Jury Duty

Hours of Service

The Jury office has a new IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system in operation. You will need to have your summons available to you when you are calling for reporting instructions.

Normally, jurors are asked to appear in the morning starting at 8:00 a.m. You may be asked to call between the hours of 11 a.m. and noon for a possible service in the afternoon. This can start at 1:00 p.m. or at different hours in the afternoon. Jurors will usually be dismissed by 4:00 p.m.

When reporting for jury duty on the first day, roll call is taken and then hardships will be considered. This process will take about fifteen to thirty minutes.

If you become a sworn juror on a trial, courts maybe in session from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. You will get several intermittent breaks and at least an hour for lunch.

The average trial in Placer County lasts three to four days.

Phone hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m Monday through Friday

The jury office is closed on weekends and on major holidays.
