Tentative Rulings for Law and Motion
Tentative Rulings for Law and Motion matters are available from noon until 4:00 pm the court day prior to each regularly scheduled law and motion calendar. The tentative rulings will be the court's final rulings unless notice of appearance and request for oral argument is given to all parties and the court by 4:00 p.m. on the court day before the regularly scheduled law and motion calendar. Requests for oral argument made via the internet will not be accepted. Local Rule 20.2.3. Prevailing parties are required to submit orders after hearing to the court within 10 court days of the scheduled hearing date, and after approval as to form by opposing counsel. Local Rule 20.2.5.
As of September 1, 2011, law and motion matters are heard by Commissioner Michael A. Jacques. Motions are heard on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 am in Dept 40.
Please note effective July 1, 2005, Local Rule 20.2 has been modified to require that parties file written notice indicating whether or not they stipulate to the Commissioner at least 5 court days prior to the hearing date. Failure to file a written non-stipulation at least 5 court days prior to the hearing date will be deemed a stipulation to the Commissioner.
